Title: Hard Top Coming off.
Post by: Carolyn on March 30, 2020, 10:59
Ok, so I can only drive it once a week to go shopping.

BUT, I can still enjoy it being a top-down experience.

The clocks have gone forward, so the top must come off.

It's tradition.

One must hold on to the little things, mustn't one?

The top is now off, in its bag and on the stand.

Just got the soft-top up as it started to rain.

Everything as it should be, then. ;D

Mine has only been on for a week.

Had to go to the village to pick up medication for Mountain Girl and went with the Spyder. Despite sunny weather left the top up: There was 4 strong police on the village X-roads and a Guardia Civl car just 500 meters down the provincial rd. Although not rational, the chance of being stopped is WAY larger with the top down. The explanation is more direct contact/view and in this case a perception of less safe.

Nor real fun ofcourse because of the reason but in a way rather cool to drive around with the black bosozoku mask  8)

Mine is staying on!
Not using Mrs 2 until the lockdown is over - when? is anyone's guess!
Shame though!

Mine came off the week before last & it's now in its bag hanging on the garage wall.  The car is in the garage with the roof still down but the the indoor cover on (the TTE style bar helps the cover contour!).  A kaput battery and the lockdown mean it won't going far anytime soon 😕😭

Mine came off on Saturday gone and we went for a short drive to take a walk somewhere quieter than local. It really is difficult to walk the streets of Lewisham and stay 2m from people at all times.

Enjoyed the drive but of course didn't push it (in distance or speed).

Over here you get fined for either/both going out for a not documented! esstential drive or a walk. And better be nice about it or you get arrested. No social sympathy either, quite the reverse.

Not sure you are lucky or not with your relative freedom. It is very hard though, not being able to enjoy the incredible spring here in the Spyder.
The measures here are draconic and will have serious economic consequences but the spread seems well under control. With the large number of infected/recovered the herd immunity is well on track too.

And nature. Nature is enjoying a fresh breath of air.

Yep, and even here in the UK there are many that would criticise me taking the car out to go for a walk somewhere. If I lived in the countryside or even my birth-town up north in Lancashire, I definitely wouldn't use the car to exercise somewhere else. I only did it because I know from logic that I'm reducing transmission opportunities vs walking the streets of Lewisham. That it is within the advice (just about) and the law, whilst makes me feel confident I'm not doing anything "wrong" hasn't stopped some people (not on this forum I might add) being critical of it. Getting to drive the thing with the top down was a nice bonus :)

Outdoor exercise (including exposure to sunlight) is important for the immune system.
