There has been chat on here about the GT86, "replacement" for our Roadster. Mr T, or was it Mr S perhaps took note of one niggle that I have with our Roadster and that's the fixing clips.
For instance, those clips around the Frunk/ Froot, was the "correct" terminology ever decided upon? Always seem to break from one year to another.
Not so often removed are the wheel arch liner clips, when you do you will find that some break.
I looked on the www for a replacement supplier, of which there are many, and I happened upon:
http://vehicleclips.co.uk/
who did not list our car but had said clips for the GT86, I thought, that's our car's replacement so surely the clips will be the same.
Not so, on checking they were for 8mm holes. Our Roadster has 7 mm holes in that location. I found the right size listed for the Yaris.
I wonder if this was a conscious decision for the designer of the GT86 to increase the diameter of that clip perhaps to make it reusable, unlike its predecessor.
I confess to being curious and will follow the thread.
But also confess when I bought Sabine. She never came with a single clip up front.
She remains clipless to this day.
I buy generic spare plastic fixings by the 50 pack. Got the bloody things coming out my ears.
I consider them semi-consumable items. I'm sure the fixings on any modern car are viewed that way by manufacturers.
There's loads of different sizes on our cars. I dares say the GT86 is no different.

Pretty sure your right Carolyn, in general the manufacturer is more interested in building the car than maintenance.
I was just intrigued as to why the same fixing point was viewed differently, albeit with 20 years or so time difference.
PS Oh yes, I got 50 clips to replace the broken three!
:))
50 to replace 3.
Perhaps i could relieve of some as when

Perhaps😉
I work on the basis, for every 10 I remove, 5 will break, so I purchased a pack of about 200 assorted from ebay for a tenner and to be honest they are as good as the Toyota ones at a fraction of the price

I broke 3 out of 10 so must have been a good day for me.
As
@Carolyn said "semi consumable" and " loads of different sizes". Rather than an assortment I have tended to buy a larger pack than necessary as and when I need them, thus building up a stash of specific clips
I do remember
@Mikeymead producing his "stash" at a past Ding Day and giving me a clip for the engine bay, I still owe him for that.
I look forward to an opportunity to repay him.
