Title: Green algal growth in light clusters - anyone else had this?
Post by: StephenBennett on April 18, 2005, 15:19
Hi all

The car is off to Toyota this week for new wheels and rear light clusters (6000 miles, 16 months old.) I noticed this weekend that my side indicators and main headlights have green algal growth inside the lights.

Has anyone else had this? If so, how will Toyota treat it if I suggest they should sort it out under warranty?

Regards

Stephen

16 months old? No problem. They should change them no questions asked. I had a headlight changed with 2 weeks left on the warranty due to water ingress. This sounds much more obvious, so they can't argue......don't worry.

Resurrecting an old thread here.  Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and tackled it out of warrantee (I mean the mouldy headlights, not the lack of water for canoeing!)?  Lynn's car is showing bits of green around the edge of the headlights.

Cheers

David

found out today that the sale of goods act pretty much covers your purchase for 6 years. You may need to write a few letters and contact trading standards but if it gets you a new set of lights  s:wink:  s:wink:

Toyota weren't interested. But as they are being extra nice to me at the moment I'll ask again at my 2 year service. It looks like a pond in there now!

Just got the car back from my 20K service (£155). They cleaned the algal growth from the lights, valeted the car and checked the pre cats for me.

The car looks like new now!
