Post by: scm2004red on June 12, 2020, 08:28
Has anyone recently obtained a replacement 2 button TOY41  key with all of electronics complete for re programming, and if so could they point me in the right direction for obtaining one.Thanks.

Fleabay can be your friend here.  You can get key blanks, although some key cutters wont cut ones you supply.  Some sellers offer to cut a key to your photo or key code.

As for the electronics, Toyota used many suppliers but the MR2 ones are tokai rika and tend to be grey plastic with a transparent battery cover.

Once you've got new electronics there is a programming guide in the how to section.  Two separate tasks to programme the immobiliser and locking/alarm separately.

there's a detailed guide on all of this in the electronics section, since the main focus is the key code dance (actually 2x dances)...

also - check the blades go into the doors (even just a little)... BEFORE you get them cut... they were all fine in the ignition, but I found the grooves on some of the fleabay TOY41 blades were too tight...

This is my personal eBay recommendation (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-YARIS-COROLLA-ECHO-MR2-SUPRA-2-BUTTON-TOY41-TOKAI-RIKA-CAN-CUT-AND-CODE/153912120697?hash=item23d5e09579:g:Rc0AAOSwHMJYFmIb).  I've bought two keys from him. An extra fiver if you want it cut - you send the key code and he sends back an image for you to compare to your existing key.  Arrives in a couple of days.  Also key has gold Toyota logo (which he can't show in his ad) as most others will be logo-less.

I wonder if he can do them with Screaming Chickens? :)

Took this advice and bought a key on his recommendation, successfully programmed today and a second key all functioning. Thanks

Is this what I need to buy as a replacement key? My new blue one came only with the gold key

That key on eBay would be a master key. Did you only get a valet key (no remote buttons)?

I don't think that key is the correct one. That key you've linked to is "4D68". You're looking for "ID4C".

The eBay link in post #3 no longer works, but I believe this is the same seller:
TOYOTA YARIS COROLLA ECHO MR2 SUPRA 2 BUTTON TOY41 TOKAI RIKA CAN CUT AND CODE (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/156416833379?_skw=toyota+mr2+cut+code&itmmeta=01JC0DSFDDTAMEKCEVC9A2SFRG&hash=item246b2b7763:g:FeEAAOSwagRe9Rm2&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA0HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKnjaVc1emqpJi%2FJTiQCCJ8bshAaU8qwbEIR0%2FRB1Pm4gYeaza7t4LhDA%2F1tXrZdCOnlxLdx3dUCrIwMt9AD74f3V2DEOWQKP%2BtdI9f6ry3LKVQXTWMnIHp07QIPO2XxIMRP5FXK8lNUq0WRtHpaGOGQ9FaSPzLxWFbY2%2FqySZ5cSKQ1lu2OaJHG%2BW7ciZ1BRwuQll3%2FHrs5j9sxuYYzknhosAAmpVphW3R12NXYj1RN3PpVgG0q%2FMm%2BDmPwK3D8GH0%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_r25Y3gZA)

Get him to cut it, and then program it yourself using the "dance of the pedals":

Quote from: fawtytoo on November  6, 2024, 11:04Get him to cut it, and then program it yourself using the "dance of the pedals":

  • Get in the car
  • Shut the doors
  • Press and release the brake and gas pedal once
  • Insert your master key into the ignition switch
  • Press and release the gas pedal 5 times
  • Press and release the brake pedal 6 times
  • Remove master key
  • Insert new key
  • Press and release the brake and gas pedal once
  • Wait 80 seconds
  • Remove new key
  • Press brake

ahhh... I remember that famous "dance" :)
