Post by: FromTheDarkness on June 28, 2020, 18:40
What Items are worth replacing while the engine is out?

So far:
 - Clutch
 - Aux Belt
 - Thermostat

Depends on the age/mileage and how much you want to spend really?
Oil and water pumps and aux belt tensioner are all easier done with the lump out.

If you're not planning on doing major engine work, then your list plus the water pump.

PCV valve is about 30,000 mile item,so that's a good shout.

The oil control filter can simply be cleaned, as it's just a mesh.

If you're happy with the way the engine is running, and the oil is clean, I'd leave the oil control valve alone, and the  sump.

You could also put a fresh O ring on the chain tensioner.  PM me and I'll send you one of the club specials that is ever so slightly fatter then the OEM one (which wasn't fat enough, and has a tendency to dribble).

Have fun!!

Precats if the exhaust is still running them and maybe a new tensioner from TCB.
