So rather than do a holy thread resurrection, I thought I'd start a new one.
Rather than a PM, I'll keep it in the open as It may help someone else who comes along with the same question.
I wrapped my toyosport manifold with some (what I thought was) decent heat wrap. However, 3 years later, it has turned brittle and it needs redoing as
@Carolyn rightly pointed out. So what recommendations do people have? I believe I need the stuff that doesn't change colour when heated.
Also, gloves. I have a box of regular blue gloves which I use regularly, but they running low (we used a lot in early COVID days). They're rather rubbish and they split easily. Anyone in the trade have a recommendation for some decent ones? I notice most garages use thicker black ones now,
I'm not a princess, but I find gloves help me grip better, particularly when I'm doing oily jobs,

In any motorfactors you'll usually find a bin of gloves for like 3 quid for 2 pair. They're usually green or bright yellow with rubbery grip. They're still thin, so you can do up bolts and stuff. But, I still always prefer gloveless for anything fiddly. I think I use the gloves more as protection when I'm bashing about with brakes or suspension

Wrap - the 'heavy duty titanium' on ebay. 10 mtrs.

I use the black gloves - they wear better than the blue ones. Most car parts shops have them.
The gloves are absolutely essential for when you're using that heat wrap stuff. You'll be itching for days otherwise!
My local B&Q were completely out of any kind of disposable gloves this morning.

Agreed! Hell, I double-gloved.
The fibres go through the fabric tops of the gloves I use and pierce through the thin blues.
When I wrapped mine last time, I shit you not, I had my black gloves and then marigolds over the top...
Ah, thank you
@Carolyn I'll get onto that.
So with black gloves, clearly, they're thicker, but the only other real redeeming feature is that they're black, not blue? :o
And yes, when I wrapped it last time, I knew it was going to be horrid stuff and I used those grippy builders gloves (which are great, but they're a bit thick)
I use Mechanix gloves for most stuff, easy to work with and decent heat protection. Just wash them every so often.
As for wrap, our Time Attack team gets stuff from Funk and I have nothing but good things to say about their products. Really good quality. Compared to eBay wrap... I'm more than happy to spend the extra. They were releasing a mani blanket for 4 branch but I'd have to check the latest list to check if it's out, I'll be using that next time rather than wrap. Makes it a ten minute job.
Get your yellow kitchen gloves out, protects the wrists from itchy fibres too!
