Title: Toyo tyres
Post by: Bad Dog on December 3, 2020, 18:42
2004 car with 15's and16's. I've had toyo proxes on cars before and like them, lots of people on here seem to think they suit the 2 soooo, i thought i'd invest in a set seeing as the newly acquired ride has miss matched tyres on at the moment.

So according to the internet standard tyres should be,
Front 185/55 x 15
Rear  215/45 x 16

all good so far, however they also recommend that if fitting Toyo Proxies,
Front 195/50 x 15
Rear 225/40 x 16

So I found a good deal on Fronts 195/50 x 15 so I bought them.

BUT can't find 225/40 x 16's anywhere. So I went onto TOYO's own web site and it appears they don't actually make that size !!!!  The closest they have are 215/40 R16 or 225/45 R16. Question is which of the two sizes would be best ?

I feel that 225 is really too fat for a stock 2.  Most tend to stick with the 215.  Always contentious!

205/40  also is lower than 215/45 thus a bit shorter gearing. Not a lot but any small bit helps in this too.

Toyo sizes are available, they fill the arches a bit better also

Try camskills / demon tweeks / eBay

Couldn't agree more tbh. Pfl wheels with Toyo as stock size n I can't lose it lol. Little back end wobble if I push too much,,, on empty private roads of course but iv no complaints.
