Title: Turbo 1zz running low boost on 2zz injectors
Post by: Matt on March 23, 2021, 16:12
I'm hoping to get my turbo setup running in the next few weeks... I'm going to be starting with some pretty low boost, around 130-150kpa.

I've managed to get a set of 2zz injectors for the time being as I doubt i'll be running much power over a stock 2zz for now. My question is, do they fit without any modification? Side by side the nozzle end looks quite different: image attached.

I am getting them cleaned so ignore how dirty both injectors are.

I'll likely be going to some deatschwerks higher flow rate injectors in the near future but want to get started a near stock solution.

If running low boost I would just stick with the 1zz injectors.
Standard ones should cope fine with circa 200bhp 6/7 psi

Not having fitted 2zz injectors, I'm only guessing, but I think the different nozzles shouldn't matter, only thing that matters is that the o ring seals it in the port, and the retainer fits around the body.
Anyone fitted them? do they just plug and play?

That's what's in the S/ car.

Yeah Jon was the one who advised them for me. I'll give it a go fitting tomorrow. Strangely the forum didn't give me an alert that anyone had replied so cheers to all for your inputs.

Fresh O rings are always good (8mm x 2mm Viton as I recall).

But used ones will often suffice. A little smear of engine oil on them will help them to pop into the fuel rail without tearing.

Matt the Forum won't give an alert unless the original post is copied/ quoted or the poster uses @  immediately before the user name such as @Matt, otherwise it's constant vigilance, perhaps easiest via the " recent posts" tab, top right of the page. Good luck with your project.

Just to confirm before i go breaking anything. I remove the large rubber seat from the yellow injector and replace with an oring?

No. The rubber seat is the same on both injectors.  The ones for the green ones will be sitting in the cylinder head, you'll have to fish them out of their holes.  The O rings are at the top, where the injectors push into the fuel rail.

Good job you asked - you'd have gone nuts!!

I'm more impressed that i managed to swap the 1zz injectors for some replacements a few months back without actually doubling up any seats :P Took out 8 and not a single one came with its seat.

Thanks for your advice, it's saving me numerous headaches

I got the injectors to fit fine today. Not tested for leaks yet as the sump is empty at the moment. Hopefully I've got it all on properly and will not drench the place in petrol
