Title: What is this button and LED?
Post by: Ferrousfe on June 3, 2021, 16:05
Hi all!

Enjoying the MR2 in this lovely sunny weather that seems to finally be breaking through!
I've been looking around online and through my owners manual and I seem to have both a button and an LED that I cannot account for.

Does anyone know what these are and am I being completely ignorant?!
The button is on the right side of the glovebox (nearest driver) and the LED is on the driver side A pillar.

Thanks in advance! :)

Something aftermarket nothing factory, Prob an aftermarket alarm system.

The button is for an old Traffic Master unit (Sat nav type thing). Led is probably from a previous alarm as already said.

Thanks all, yes I've just had a google and the Traffic Master symbol appears to be the same as is on the button.
In regards to the LED, I thought I'd just start dismantling as if it is something aftermarket then I'd like to know.

Turns out it is connected to a box under the steering wheel, from a quick google of the details on the box (EX-01A Interface) and it looks like it could be a laser speed gun detector!
Anyone know if these are still legal or whether I should rip it out?

Rip it out. Serves no use.
