Title: Sell or not? My dilmma
Post by: Mr2paul on July 21, 2021, 22:18
Hi guys. I'm in abit of a dilmma tbh. I was going to sell my mr2 but then mot loomed so that went well with just a brake clip missing n blacked out rear lights ( so don't do that ) so she's great n was thinking of refurbing the wheels.
Then I thought of selling but when I come home n see it on the drive ,,,, I think nah,,, but reality is it doesn't get used.
Should I go with my head and sell or have a barely used ornament on the drive. ?  Comments may sway me.

Another upshot is that I had 3 Hyundai f2 evolutions n wish I'd kept them n done the welding reqd but I didn't. Now if you ever find 1 it's crazy money.

Cheers guys.

Why sell?
It cost nothing parked on your drive.
How much would you get if you sold it?
Would that amount enable you to do something that you need or really want to do?

I am always in favour of keeping them! No depreciation really which is the biggest cost of any car.

As you have already found out, you may regret selling so dont rush into anything!

Do you need the money? If not, keep it.

It sounds like its a good clean example so its only going to go up in value.

I had a Series one F2 Evo. Did you find you ate through front tyres?
I ran Yokos on mine and was replacing them every 8,000 miles or so.

Great car. Someone kindly drove into me and wrote it off.

Whenever you talk about a Hyundai Coupe, initially people thought you were talking about an Accent coupe

Or the later boxy one

When in fact, I was driving one like this:

Storage is the biggie, plus the costs of getting it MOT'd and taxed/insured as a second or third car, as and when the time comes.

If it's going to be several years, you're also looking at the need to drain/change fluids (comparatively cheap I guess), tyres (not so cheap).

Never liked the mk2 with the round lights, but the mk3.5 was nice but so slow and bulky that I never bonded plus all the electronic failures so nice idea but I was soooo wrong

Yer I no what you will say about her rear end, marmite I suppose, but comments however are good. Not for the purists but you can always try to improve others ideas of perfection ?
Had a tesla at work n a massive Audi then a mclaren. So think I'm in the wrong job. Who gets a mclaren as a company car? Software engineer

im in the same dilemna...
love the car but just dont get to use it and its an expensive paperweight...it doesnt fit the complete leisure needs  - need 4 seats and dog room....but yet its hard to let go. if someone was stood in front of me with £££ it might be different story. id regret instantly and buy another but i do think on reflection it has to sadly go. 02 90k non oil burn 12m mot new handbrake cables new clutch double din with nav, reverse camera, tte style bar cobra 4 pipe, toyosports manifold, new sports cat - uprated headlight bulbs, fl real lights anthracite alloys leather seats aircon - needs gas i think and.....soft top in great condition and a hardtop which i will NOT sell seperate. see my dilemna now, i have a fine ride but just dont get the use out of it..
