Title: Anyone found an Inner CV boot that fits facelift driveshafts?
Post by: JB21 on October 29, 2021, 09:37
Anyone found a aftermarket/blueprint inner CV boot that actually fits the FL shafts?

Toyota want £78 for there item which is ridiculous.

From what I can gather the PFL & FL boots are slightly different.

I cant for the life of me find an aftermarket option for part number 04438-17040 which was later replaced by 04439-17021.

Thanks in advance.

I went for universal split boot trimmed to fit, used the end with the lobes on the inside, from the old boot and glued the whole thing together using rubberised cynoacrylate glue (you can find it on ebay).

I bit fiddly and messy, but I got a good result in the end.

Link for the glue (this stuff is brilliant):

Currently using this option but its now started to leak, so need a permanent fix. Looks like I'll have to stump up for the extortionate Toyota item.

Sorry I can't give a specific brand or link but there must be an aftermarket option, I had a boot fitted by National for less than £90 a couple of MOTs ago (well, they needed two goes as they didn't order in the proper 'pentalobe'? one and it had flung grease around).

Yes they are different between the PFL and FL.

I know its expensive but the Toyota kit is the best. It comes with good features like the grease they provide and the self locking clamps that doesn't require a specific tool.

I have done few of these for owners and my own car that needed new boots  one of which was an aftermarket one that failed. There are several aftermarket options here that are cheap but I don't put my faith in them.
If its the inner boot its relatively easy to change without having to remove the shaft from the transmission.

Have you tried Paul at TCB or https://www.amayama.com/en which is a little cheaper.

AutoDoc wants the size so it may be able to cross reference for you.

Plenty of aftermarket options that state they fit but in my experience buy cheap buy twice, maybe ever thrice. When parts don't state the OE number its likely they won't fit properly, and non of them state the correct number.

Toyota it is then.
