Just thinking ahead, what sort of costs would be involved to renew the suspension all round on my 2002 PFL ?
What would be the approximate fitting charge ?
I will never being doing track days and the like just plodding around here and there enjoying myself :)
I won't be thinking of lowering as I want to keep everything pretty standard.
Good question - I'd like to know that too! ;D
It's not a particularly complicated job, but might be some sticky bolts if it's still original. Nothing a decent garage wouldn't routinely deal with.
It pays to shop around a bit.
I bought my KYBs from two different sources for about £60 a corner. I got them over a couple of weeks browsing on EBAY.
I bought my springs off a member who had bought new ones but not used them. I think Paul at TCB performance parts, will have springs. Facelift and pre-facelift are slightly different.
Also budget for new front and rear drop links, less than £50 the lot.
I would have thought around £500-600 for dampers and springs and around £200 for a decent garage to fit, I dread to think what a main dealer would charge
Rob
I echo what
@Carolyn says, shop around.
I got my shocks and springs (both kyb) for around £450. They come up on offer on ebay quite regularly with 20% off.
New drop links are well worth it for the money. The big kick in the teeth with the refresh will be if you need new top mounts aswell, they're about £50/60 each. My fronts were done on a 73k car but the rears were fine.
You may wish to factor in new top mounts dust boots & bump stops. While you have everything off... ::)
Thanks for the replies so somewhere between £600 and a £1000 fitted, food for a lot of thought especially do I actually need new ? :)

& £120 ish for a geo. It all adds up. You don't think you need new until you've had it done & you realise how good it feels now.

This shop has 20% off Napa & KYB struts, I think also KYB springs, & Gen 7 Celica front top mounts. You may struggle finding dust boots on ebay. TCB for those, as mentioned earlier.
Just had a suspension refresh completed by an Indi MR2 specialist (Matt Lee) at Midship Performance
Including geo. (at Kwikfit) ~£1k all in
lca, springs, shocks, boots
Huge difference on an 86k 2004 Fl that previously seemed ok .....
Again, we need to meet up.
Kyb and the popular tein s lowering spring on mine. Worth looking at, even if just to say yes, staying stock.
But then one of the tte offerings was a lowering spring. So you are only choosing an optional extra. Not modding.
