Had a need to swing both mirrors inboard this week due to parking but both are seized solid but each mirror tilts fine on the servo. So whats the best plan to free them up so as the bodies turn?

I would try a squirt of WD40 Norman, I suggested that some time ago when the Member thought that the mirrors weren't designed to move. iirc there was no adverse feedback at that time.

@Carolyn
Once you've got some lubricant worked into the join, you can use a length of string or similar to work it in and give it all a bit of a clean, hold the base part firmly in one hand and give the upper housing a smart tap with your other hand.
Once you've got it moving put some more lube in and give it a good manipulation.
Its had a penetrating oil soak followed by a good squirt of aerosol white grease, I'll give it a few days and try again.

Thats useful I dident realise the complete mirror could be folded in, thanks :)
Sorted mine today, I would never have known.
The drivers side mirror took a little persuading and a few sprays of WD40 but now working fine, it clicks into the driving position reasonable well.
The passenger side was really stuck, tried hard to move it but no joy, so lots of WD40 and a thin piece of string, tried and tried and just as I got to the point of giving up it moved :) so lots more WD40 and lots of twisting it about until it felt good, the overflow of WD40 started to come out rusty looking so I kept spraying and twisting until the rusty look had gone, moves easy now but does not click into the driving position with a solid clunk but does locate.
Thanks, we learn something every day and I like this feature for when parking in a busy area.

I always felt they didn't have a proper position 'locator' or clunk (as you put it) in the same way that a family hatch does.
Both freed up as detailed from you inputs thanks guys. Gave them both a liberal squirt of white grease to stop this happening gain. Just need another good squirt and a good tap from the palm of the hand.

We've owned our MR2 15 years this past December and never knew the mirrors rotated on the plinth, I've been out and sprayed some silicone oil in the joints and will be out there in an hour or two to see if I can get it to move
Turns out the mirrors are at exactly the same height as the handle bars on the bike I'm currently using. It's OK if I park hard against the fence on one side of the drive, but I had to fold mine in when I parked a bit out to get access round. Fortunately it just 'worked' but will give them a proactive spray to keep them mobile, and maybe get the car in the garage at some point...

You'll find some under the same pile of hen's teeth as the chromed windscreen surround, ask Bernie.
