(I wasn't sure where to put this so if it's better suited in another forum then please feel free to move it)
I've noticed that the headlights on my pre-facelift car are quite dim at full beam, though they're bright enough when dipped. I had a search around here and on google, but it wasn't always clear whether people were talking about FL or PFL so I thought I should probably just ask.
Would anyone have suggestions for replacement bulbs to improve things? I know that changing to FL headlights would be the best option, but that's a big pricey and I prefer the PFL look anyway. I've seen a few people mention using Night Breakers, and others mentioning Philips bulbs, but I have no experience of what the best options are (other than that I want H4 bulbs). Would these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08KGH3JK8?th=1) be a good choice?
I've also seen that changing the bulbs can be a bit of a nightmare, so any tips are welcome!
Thanks in advance!
Those bulbs look just fine.
The PFL head lights tend to hold their condition better as there is much less internal reflection of sunlight, comparted to the FL ones. Also it's not a 'plug and play' swap.
You'll be fine doing the swap. Plastic surround off, unplug the connector (small hands are a plus!) take the rubber off. Release the spring clip and remove the bulb. A bit of contact cleaner up the connector is always good at this point. Reverse the procedure. Use a tissue to handle the glass part of the bulb so you don't get oil from your skin on it.
Thanks! That doesn't sound too tricky
All done - nice and straightforward! Lowered the lights a wee bit too and now they're spot on
