Hi all just a quick question my car idles at around 1400 until almost fully warmed up. I've never had a car do this normally they tend to drop down on the revs pretty quickly. Is this normal for this engine?

A bit higher on a very cold start is normal but that seems a bit high
The throttle body is heated by the engine coolant & on it is the Idle Air Control Valve. They do sometimes cause problems, more often if a car is left unused for periods of time. It also gets upest if there's air in the coolant system. Monitor your coolant level in the header tank when it's cold. And when it's properly hot bleed the radiator (top left corner as you look at it) & see if you get a puff of air. If you do, repeat it after some more miles, - see if it has any effect.
It should gradually tick down as it gets warmer, the issue is with nigh-on 10l of coolant (if memory serves me correctly), and the rad being the opposite end of the car to the engine, it takes longer to warm up.
Cleaning the throttle body and IACV (to Gaz's point) is usually a good idea if they've been left a long time, should be a guide on here and it's not the worst job in the world.
thats about where mine sits till its nearly warm... never been a problem for me and the car has always done it. nice 850 or 900 when warm
Yep, Sapphire is running about the same at cold. Warm idle tends to be 1k for me or alittle lower.
Thanks for your advice, I will do the above see if that changes it. But from reading some the comments it's a trait of the car with its radiator set up being what it is.
