Title: Silly question time
Post by: Fin on September 11, 2022, 20:08
As usual, I have a silly question...
Just relubed etc the rear brakes (sliders and pistons, not pads!) but there's one thing I'm never sure about:
When fitting the pads to the springs, do the sticky out bits of the spring (the longer one on the outside pad) fit around the pad to hold it in place, or do I try to trap it in the saddle on the pad?
Also, I seem to remember buying cheap pads last time (I could almost see my face in the "friction" surface, which i have roughened with a wire brush), which is half the problem I think.
What make should I be buying?

Pagid are commonly liked.  A member had a stripped-out track car & used ordinary Apec road pads. I've tried them & they're ok.  Braided hoses are a good investment replacing the flex-hoses.

Very happy with the padgids I've fitted.
Just normal usage.

Lovely, thanks. I'll get a set of Pagids. At only £25 from MR2 Ben, I don't think they're much more than the cheap rubbish I've got on there at the moment.
I fitted the coloured braided lines a lot of us bought years ago.
Pure road use, and I don't do much spirited driving these days (it's only 2vmiles each way to work).
