Addition of the dog with all that entails including expenses such as food & vet bills mean the Porsche is no longer practical for me so up for sale.
2005, 987 Porsche Boxter, 2.7, 111,230 miles but will go up as I still use it occasionally.
Bassalt black with black leather interior.
Rear parking sensors
HID Xenon headlights & washers (like the MR2s, the standard headlights are shyate)
Shell backed sports seats
Sports steering wheel
Sound Package Plus 7 speaker sound system with integrated amplifier.
Zunsport front grilles to protect the rads & AC condensers (all in good nick).
Exhaust from a 987 Cayman (60k milkes) with Revolution Porsche Mod - sounds great. No drone.
Debadged on back.
Has a Pioneer SPH-DA250DAB fitted but can change back to original Porsche CDR 24 unit & take £300 off the price. Sounds way better than anything I've heard in a MR2.
Came with 19" lobster claw alloys but I changed them out for 17" Cayman alloys which gives a much better ride & I think they look better. Subjective.
Full service history. All Porsche or independent until last service which I had done local (they're really not difficult cars to maintain or work on).
In my time with the car (3 years) I've replaced brake discs & pads all round including handbrake shoes for MOT (yesterday). Had the dreaded coolant crossover pipes & hoses done - £640 job at Porsche indy.
From Porsche documents on Engine numbers I believe this car has the larger IMS bearing, so no worries there.
Will have 2 x brand new Michelin PS4s on the back axle for the new owner. Fronts are Conti with 4mm ish tread.

It really is a peach of a car & looks excellent for a 17 year old car. Porsche paint is definite improvement on Mr T. It has a couple of light scratches by the driver's wing mirror (on the door). & a heavy 2-3 inch vertical score on the rear bumper where I managed to reverse into a pipe at work despite the reverse sensors. Hey ho.
@shnazzle @Gibla @TonyleFrog have all had a drive in the car & can attest to the solidity of the car & how well it drives.

Yes, still for sale. I haven't really pursued the sale beyond here & Boxa.net. Was going to wait for spring to list it through AutoTrader etc.
I'll check the V5 & get you the engine number, but I have already chacked it vs Porsche's list of engine numbers & that tells me it's the larger IMS bearing. Don't take that on trust though, like I say I'll forward the engine number.
I don't believe bore score is an issue on the 2.7l either, so I've never bothered with a borescope. Runs really sweet so never had any thoughts on doing a compression test (I don't have anything to test it).
Doesn't use fluids. I was losin coolant a couple of years back, & that was solved by changing the coolant reservoir cap. Didn't overheat during that time. On that note, prior to fitting Zunsport grilles, I had the bumper off to check the rads & the AC condensers. All four were remarkably clean, should still be that way today.
New Falken tyres on the rear. Fitted after MOT & barely moved since then. Winters on it now.

Just looking at the pictures again. I forgot how much I really love this car. Through lessons learned on the MR2, I got this car exactly how I like it very quickly :'(

No expert either in Porsche engines. Apparently all suffered until 987.2, but statistically you are right that mainly Cayman S were impacted. And of course it is a bit of a horror story to promote inspection etc. Similar with pre cats on MR2s, ish.
Hood mechanism, brakes and interior are they in good condition (well ok for a 18 year old car)?

Brake discs, pads, handbrake shoes have all been replaced in the last 12 months. Rear done in October for MOT.
Hood mechanism is great. Both ball joints snapped this summer & have been replaced, so that job is done. I've redone the elastic on the passenger side where it wasn't pulling the roof back inside the frame. Lots of little jobs like that I've done as I've gone along. Interior is great. Little bit of discolouration/wear on the driver's bolster which has only happenend in my care so I'm guessing a near-to-previous owner had recoloured that seat before the car came to me. The sports seats hold you quite nicely for a leather seat.
I think the openness of the details means that others don't need to be asking the same questions via pm.

In addition regularly used Porsches are less prone to developing issues.
The problem (for me) is, I drove 987.1 3.2s and gen2 2.9 and 3.4s. Though lovely cars it was mainly the S models that were appealing. Unfortunately, the well maintained ones are on a different price league which puts into the equation other interesting cars also.

I hear you. It comes down to how you're going to use the car. For the most part mine was a daily for 1st two years of ownership. I have B road blasts, NC500 type tours & no track work. It's plenty fast enough for what I use it for. Keep it cooking above 4K rpm & it'll do whatever you want it to do. I see it as part of the fun & how a sports car should be driven.
Add to that the Porsche owners' mantra of buying on condition & after seeing one or two questionable 3.2S models,this one was head & shoulders above in those terms. I almost left it too long as the previous owner was about to take it off the market & keep it. Had to persuade him to sell in the end.
Talking of which I'm arranging a tour over to Ireland late April & will be booking ferries in 2-3 weeks. It's looking likely I'll be taking this car so if not sold in the next 3 weeks it won't be available until we get back Sunday 30th April. If it sells then Mrs Spaulding's MR2 will be doing the trip. Not exactly a hardship :)
One last comment, having driven 17, 18 and 19 inches, 17 inches are a much better fit in terms of comfort and agility. Especially on the non-s versions.
The 18-19 setup is quite extreme to my opinion and with today's tire technology I kind of doubt it needs so much rubber. So the 17 inch setup is definitely a plus.

Thanks but not interested in a p/x. I've already bought the replacement dog-mobile. & with the dog here now it means I really don't have the time to enjoy weekend toys so it'll likely be the Focus estate as my only wheels for the foreseeable.
Ah well Stewart it was 'worth a whirl', no need for 2 dog mobiles, and my Swift worthy as it is, cannot compare with a Focus Estate for doggy space :)

Since my original post, it's had an intermediate service last month at indie specialist, Lorimer & Findlay, plus front brakes cleaned up & greased & brake fluid replaced. All that came in at >£500, but was due & didn't want to have that gap in the service book. (You know how those things bother us :)) ).
I've just spent the weekend doing some cosmetic things to the car. I chickened out of using the Farecla G3 scratch remover & just used the lighter Farecla All-in-one polish & did that by hand rather than machine. So this weekend's work consisted of the following.
Actually previous weekend I did 1st coat of Fabsil Gold on the roof.

Farecla All-in-one polish by hand with black waffle pad

Healights polished (G3 scratch remover) & sealed with 303 Marine
Interior vacuumed
Windows cleaned inside & out
Tyres dressed
I'd quite like to see it wet to see how well the roof & the paintwork beads after all that :)) . But then again, I'd like it to stay as clean as it is :P

I have a front brace set from a 997 & will fit that this week.
Pollen filter to replace
& I have some Polytrol I'm going to try on the plastic windscreen scuttle to see if I can get that looking a bit better.
I will also photograph the service book to add to the pics above. I believe there's 12 service stamps in the book & is fully up-to-date after last month's outlay
Further bits I forgot I'd done...
Both headlight washer nozzles ((the chrome coloured plastic nozzle tops in front of the headlights) have been replaced. I'm guessing age takes its toll on the fixings for these nozzles & both disappeared within a few months of each other. Guessing they popped off once the fixing was broken/worn out.
Both window regulators have been replaced. Passenger side was done before I got the car. I did the driver's side myself using Porsche OEM part,
Lastly, it has a new battery fitted this year.
That's about as comprehensive as I can get I think. The paintwork still has minor surface scratches that could be taken out with a more abrasive polish I'm sure (it's 18 years old remember, & I'm not brave enough) & there's now a paint chip on the bonnet that I've added some touch up paint to. (I'll get a photo of that too as it is the most noticable blemish.
There's a Chipex paint repair kit will go with the car (came to me with the car) & I bought some bassalt black touch-up paint & laquer from a Boxa.net user that will also go with the car for just in case.
Edit: Car comes with 2 x remote keys + valet key.
Finally up on Autotrader & Pistonheads so hopefully gone soon.
Deposit taken. Got pretty much what I wanted for it.
Sold & gone to a very happy new owner. Mods can close now, please.
