Title: Classic car insurance suggestions?
Post by: CBWG on June 12, 2024, 15:29
Hi All, I recently bought a mk3 mr2, and have been looking into classic car insurance for it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions please?

I haven't had a competitive price when trying to get a classic policy, but I've renewed today with Aviva for £142 fully comp for my TF300 which I think is good value

My car is modified (2ZZ etc) and is on classic with Performance Direct (Highway). They advised me it qualified for classic on basis of mileage which is down as max 2,000. If you're doing normal miles as a first car 10,000 or so, then I don't think it will be broadly available for a car this age. No expert though - just my personal experience.

You won't build up no claims so unless it's significantly cheaper now then it's worth getting a proper policy. I got stung in a classic policy which I didn't know I'd been put on. Reduced mileage will keep the price down on either.

Insured with Saga last year for £147 F/Comp 3000 miles pa added £20 and the price is fixed for three years barring changes or accidents. Not a classic policy.

That's a great deal.
