@MartynMR2
Hello and welcome .
Here is a copy of my post from  23 November 2014, when I had a similar problem.
The solution is still the same, the price will have moved with the times.

My 2 button key was also falling apart and I read about flip key cases on here, got one from ebay.
Took my key apart, reshaped and drilled the old blade to suit the flip case old innards into new case, job done for about £5.00.

The photo is today, so the replacement case is around 10 years old.

There are many to be found on auction sites.  You need a two button toyota with a TOY41 blade.  If you need the innards too you can get those - Tokia Rikka is the make that is needed for ours.  Replacement plastics are around £5 and replacement electronics can be £30.  If you add new electronics there are some how-to posts for the way that you program them to your car.

If the is a genuine MR-S it has a button-less key.  If you have buttons it's a 'Roadster'.

There's info on key programming in the 'How To' section.

I didnt spot the MRS reference.  If you have one then @Carolyn is spot on with advice.  The alarm system on the roadsters in the UK was fitted at port of entry (bristol) when they arrived.

Would you be able to send a link to the flip housing you purchased, thanks

@Rushy67

As said my flip key case is 10+ years old so no link. I have looked on eBay and found this, there are several suppliers.
The key position is 90deg, different to mine.
Also a link to a you tube How To, that suggests using a Dremel tool to reshape the key, I used a saw and file for the same result.
I also used some Araldite to take up any slack and refitted the roll pin. Don't loose that!
