Title: Stereo upright struts removal?

I'm thinking of deleting the stereo as I never listen to it anyway, but then thought about deleting the ashtray too and the upright struts.

But, do the struts support the dashboard, or is it ok to remove them?

The plastic covers or the metal uprights? It's not clear from your question.

Sorry, I meant the metal uprights.
