Title: Idle speed air con car
Post by: Craigjm on December 2, 2024, 23:35
My new blue FL has aircon whereas the previous silver did not. Do they rev slightly higher than the standard car. At idle when warm the idle is about 300 rpm higher than it was with the old car and when you turn off the aircon it drops to match the non aircon car.

Any ideas?

The car picks up the idle when the air is on to allow for the extra load of running the compressor.

Yes I thought that might be the case as it's quite an old system. Doesn't happen really with a modern car as they are all designed for aircon. Was just wondering if it was an issue with the idle control valve. Idles at about 1000rpm with the aircon on

With a new Toyota IAC, our MR2 idles at 800 RPM with A/C off and 1,100 with A/C on when warmed up.
