Title: DAB V Sirrus
Post by: markiii on June 20, 2005, 15:56
Right chaps lets see if anyone can answer this;

Looking at a new headunit. features for features I can get the same unit in the states for less than half price.

Snag number1 is obviously FM won't work very well, however as I'm thinking of getting a DAB box this may not be an issue.

However as teh US don't use DAB we have snag number2.

Now I know teh SIrrus (US Sattelite) Protocols must be close to DAB as my US sourced MP3 unit talks via teh Sirrus protocols and it works currently with my UK DAB connection.

SO I reckon there is a very good chance it will work.

However as I won't really know until I've spent the £500, thought I'd see what you think.

So, will a UK DAB box work with a US headunit?

ta,

Mark.

Only guessing here as I am not familiar with your headunit...

If the dab box connects to an aux type input, you should not have any problems whatsoever.  However, you might face issues if it connects to the radio interface since it's more than likely that the frequency range will not match.

£116 from ebay   s:wink: :wink: s:wink:

I looked around and most places seem to sell them for £250-300, so this was a bargain i thought!!  especially as there was another one up for sale a few days after that went for £170..
