Title: Water Ingress
Post by: Craigjm on July 14, 2025, 16:22
I have just taken the seats and the carpet out to fit a new audio system and there is a bit of water in both footwells and the carpet was wet. Must have been there a while as its not really rained. What is the usual place that the water comes in from? is it windscreen seal and down the back or something else?

I think you have answered your own question.

Sure, I've read posts similar to yours and was traced back to window screen seal.

Is the water to the front of the seat only, or also to the rear?

While your down there it could be prudent to check the steering column to floor seal.
Seldom mentioned on here but I found a few years back that on my 2002, now < 60k Miles, car the seal was in tatters.
Replacement provided by TCB.

Water coming in is mostly from the rear bags that could have soaked through so yes have a look in rear of seat aswell. Other than that I've read that it could also be fluid coming from the heater matrix

Thanks guys. It's definitely not coming from the rear. The roof and all the bags etc are new in the last month of so. The water was at the front of the footwell so I guess yeah windscreen seal should be first

The rubber that the door window meets can leak.  On the passenger side take the plastic cover off on the left floor edge & look for traces on the electrics.
