Hi all,
I'm hoping for some help diagnosing a rattle
Here is a video: https://youtube.com/shorts/UT2Q6BCTJtE
You can just about hear it over the engine in the video, though it's more noticeable in person. It's a slightly tinny sound I think. I'm reasonably confident it isn't rod bearings (I've had that with these before and the sound was different) but haven't had much luck figuring it out. I'm hoping it's something relatively benign like a heat shield, but no idea
It had new new oil, oil filter, and air filter a few weeks ago. It doesn't burn oil ( about 3.6 of the 3.7 litres I put in the previous time came back out again) and the precats are intact (though getting rid of those is on the to-do list). The engine revs smoothly and isn't down on power. It's a 2004 car.
All help appreciated!
Probably the heat shield on the cat. (it usually is).

So this was a fair guess, but it turned out to be... a spanner that had fallen between the rear bumper and the exhaust heat shield
@bobbe If it was your spanner, fair play for "owning up".
If not, a win for you, I've found more than one over the years.
