Title: Silver Midlife Roadster
Post by: utterclarity on October 11, 2025, 12:50
After too many years away I am back with a sparkling new 02 Silver curtesy of the very lovely @Joesson

The car is in excellent nick (somewhat better than me) so I get to do fun stuff.

Because I am a klutz, my first job has been a second master key, innards from the ever helpful @J-SPEC and a freshly cut key and body from https://www.keymoon.uk/ (https://www.keymoon.uk/) (luckily I have the key code). Assembled, key-dance performed and I have a second working key all for about £50.

Said so many times on here, in this case a long time coming:

And so it begins!

As for fitting it, to (almost) quote the machinist's law:

Check (at least) twice, drill once.

@utterclarity

Your most recent purchase is perhaps similar to these:

It looks to me like the TRD, the seller thought it might be originally from Subaru although the donor car was an MR2.

I shall definitely be, measuring twice 20 times, drilling once (at least that's the plan)

Spoiler is definitely from a Subaru Impreza but has been commonly fitted to MR2s recently.

Not sure I like the use of "common" in the same sentence as MR2!

Well I finally got round to fitting the spoiler, which beyond the scary drilling wasn't too difficult

However, I wasn't sure about the look and the potential tripling of my insurance premiums (yes, I did try the usual suspects) tipped me over so it's off again.

One new lid from J-Spec and I'm back to where I started except I now have an unwanted spoiler for sale, I'll put the details and more pictures in the sales section if anyone is interested.

To be fair, I do have very low premiums at the moment and my current insurers won't insure modded cars.

I have said previously that I think the Spoiler is a most aptly named item!
