Title: Check Engine LED
Post by: valguss2001 on November 28, 2025, 16:16
Hi Guys

Found out earlier this year that someone in the past had removed the check engine light LED from the dials. I've got an ODB2 reader and sorted the faults and cleared them now, but I was wondering if anyone can point me at an LED to solder back onto the board. It's a 2001

Thanks

Tom

You're probably correct in that it's missing, but it's more common for people to obscure it.

You may already know, but you don't legally need it for the age of car.

I know someone with a modified car that legally needs it, but the car modifier did not enable it.  So wires are now bridged across to give the appearance it works for MOT purposes.  She uses OBD frequently just to check.

Thanks Gaz

I keep an eye on it using OBD but was hoping to be able to get the light back in as that would be more useful. But that is useful to know that it's not a legal requirement.

Cheers
