Title: Best sounding exhaust
Post by: Ratty on November 28, 2025, 20:34
I'd like to change the standard cat back part of the exhaust to something that sounds better than the factory one and would welcome peoples opinions on which make the best sound.
My previous 2 had the TTE backbox which was a lot better than standard but would like to go one better.
Would prefer a 'rasp' note rather than a 'drone' note.
Listened to many YouTube videos and the Cobra seems the best so far.
Like the rasp of the HKS LEGAMAX but db only a few higher than OEM.
The sound is the most important factor with any weight loss and bhp gain being a bonus.
Thank you 😁

There is a thread in here somewhere exhausts all of them or something.

Perhaps more visual than aural, but might be worth searching for.

The TTE for me is the dogs danglies.
Has it's own issues but sound wise, still top of the tree.

An off beat wuffle. Just resonates with me.

Has anybody fitted the Gravity twin exit?

I quite like the look of it and it's down to £220 on Ebay at moment

TTE will be the most popular I recon, I think it's just right for the 2

Cobra is too boomy

I can endorse that , as an independent observer, on the drive out from the Gaydon MR2 get together when  we went through a tunnel!

If you combine your new catback with a Zero racecat, you will get a little bit more sound and better perfomance too.

Even with stock silencer, the sound is more sporty with the Zero cat. Personally I would replace the cat before the catback. But I am getting old and sick of noisy cars. I only want better sounding exhausts.  😄

I have just gone for it and bought the Gravity one from Ebay.  It's now down to below £200 as there is an extra 10% off.  It's sold by MP Performance, when I messaged them they it was their own exhaust, but they have the same company VAT reg no as Gravity and it looks identical?
