My old soft top would not fold down beyond appx 1/2 way, the glass folds in as it should the shelf slides away but it will not fold down.
Bought a new soft top in canvas, fitted it and it will not fold down, if however fits great when in the up position.
Is there an adjustment on the frame at all that may need tweaking to put down the soft top/hood.
The frame folds down perfectly without the soft top in place.
I am at my wits end to fix this problem, especially after buying a new soft top.
Was there a change in the frame size at all the car is 2002 ??
Thanks in anticipation
Jack
Have you tried pushing down on the glass?
@75W-90gbox You're on the east coast although I don't know specifically. Is there someone else that you could compare cars with in case you've made a mistake in fitting it? Either someone here local to you or another you've spotted.
Sounds to me like the glass is not folding down quite as it should. Try pressing down on the glass. I have a new hood from soft top shop and I have to help the glass up and down because the roof is much softer than an original or Swansea roof
Hi all and thank you for all your suggestions.
I have tried pushing the glass but to no avail, it will just not fold.
I am in the process of refitting it again to see if it was just a bad fit.
Does anybody know if the hood frame was changed, there does not seem to be any adjustment in the hood frame.
The hood frame stayed the same. The basic body and roof never changed.
Thanks for that information re the frame.
Is there a drawing of the frame given distances between frames etc, so as I can rule out distortion of the frame
I am just hoping it will work after I refit it.
Thanks
Take your motor to hood specialists - They will stretch the canvas for you _ You can use a heat gun to expand the canvas but best to leave it to the professionals To change or alter the frame will bring a myriad of probs!! I was dealing with canvas for many years whilst in the Navy - It is more pliable in warmth than the colder months!!!! - Check the formation strap that runs across the top of roof that stops the formation of "ears" when folded
