it's designed a cosmetic mod.

it sounds better, looks better, but at most your looking at circa 2bhp, oh and it's 2lb heavier

Thats interesting, do insurance companies see it a a purely cosmetic mod?
I kinda gave up on the idea of putting a different exhaust on my '2 after my insurance company said that they wouldn't be able to insure me, but if theres no performance gain then theres no reason why they shouldn't.

I couldn't ever get a straight answer out of them to say wether they counted lowering the car by 30mm as a performance mod either.

Gotta hate insurance companies havent ya?    s:evil:  s:evil:

Depends on which insurance company you are with, I was with Elephant when I put on the Remus (same as TTE) and lowered it and put the A'Pexi on and they charged me minimal amounts for those.  Go with a specialist insurer like Adrian Flux and nothing is a problem.

Couldn't agree more. You want to know how much extra they've charged me for all my mods? £0.00. Not a single penny.

I like Adrian Flux.   s:D :D s:D

Hi guys,I've just had a TTE twin exhaust fitted.I'm with direct Line, and they wanted £120 extra premium if I fitted this, despite my assurances that this was a purely cosmetic official Mr T accessory that as far as I knew had no effect on power output. They just kept quoting their mantra of :"anything that increases the power output by up to 10% will mean an increase of £120 to your premium....".  s:evil:  s:evil:

In the end I rang the Toyota Technical department. They confirmed that this accessory did not increase power output,so I stood firm when back on the phone to Direct Line and registered the mod without increasing the premium.  s8) 8) s8)

So hopefully you should be able to get a twin exhaust without wacking up the insurance.Good luck!

I've just had it 4 days,and to me it does sound a lot better.  s:D :D s:D

My family have also noticed a big difference. However,it may be that we are particularly "tuned in" at the moment.

But,yes,I do think there is a substancial difference.

Hiya - Going back to insurance, has anyone ever had to make any claims with Adrian Flux?

Im currently with Directline, I pay £600 with £1400 excess ('how much excess???' I hear you say). Anyone else think this is a bit steep - given that Im 25 and have full no claims? My '2 has the TTE lowering kit and the twin exhausts.

Im considering going to Adrian Flux, but before I do I wondered whether they are any good when it actually comes to making a claim?

Ive had to claim twice from Directline and both times they have been very quick and efficient in repairing the car. All the work was done in under two weeks with no hassle whatsoever.

How much Excess???     s:lol:  s:lol:     s:wink:  s:wink:

wow, in all honesty, that's the highest excess i've ever heard of!!

I'm 26, and did have 2yrs no claims before the accident, I've got a [fair] few points, and my excess is only £120. there wasn't much difference in policy cost for increasing the excess so I didn't bother...

(by the way, despite the [significant] points, this was my first ever accident/claim, before people start thinking 'boy racer' or 'idiot driver' etc!   s:lol:  s:lol:  they were on dual carriageways...)

s:shock:  s:shock:   When we got the car, my wife (whose name the car is insured under) was 25 and I think the insurance was just under £500 with a £250 excess.  Mind you, what you pay does depend greatly on your postcode, whether the car's garaged (ours is), what mileage you do (we do less than 5000), etc, etc, so it's hard to compare quotes.  I do think a £1400 excess is completely beyond reasonable though...  My excess on the Impreza is only £300!

With an excess of £1400, you can see why some people don't even bother with insurance at all.

That's a total rip-off, but that's Direct Line and their 'We Really Hate Mods' policy. I'd rather pay £700 and have the usual £500 excess. Oh wait, I already do, and that's with AF. I'm also 25 and with full no claims... You do the maths.   s:wink:  s:wink:

Greenlight reckon mine will be around £600 with £300 excess next year. I'll be almost 25 with 2 year NCB and most mods covered (Inc unichip). Car is parked on the road and business class 1 is covered.

I'd say Direct Line are having a laugh.
