I was talking to Mark about this on Saturday, as it had happened to him, strangely also at his mothers s:? :? s:? a rather strange phenomena with my alarm. It sets everywhere apart from around at my Mothers house. This has only happened the last 3 times that I have gone around there so I know that it isn't a one off. I hit the button and nothing happens. Drive a few yards up the road and try it there, works fine..any ideas anyone?
I blame crop circles.

It wasn't with the 2, but I've had a similar experience with an old escort I used to own a few years back... (i know, an escort! s:oops: :oops: s:oops: )
I was running a pub in Taunton (i know, cider county! s:oops: :oops: s:oops: ), and there was a certain spot in the car park out the back that the alarm wouldn't set in... move it, literally, 10ft away, round a corner of the building, and it'd work fine... very strange. s:? :? s:?
perhaps something to do with radio interferance jamming the remote? do you have problems with the remote central locking at your mums? (the escort didn't have remote locking so I couldn't tell...! s:lol: :lol: s:lol: )

To add to the weirdness of it all, Mum has one of those remote doorbells and that sets itself off at random times as well.
This week is the first time that it has happened, but 3 times in that week, bloody pain having to lock the doors with the key.
My bam is boozled s:? :? s:?
here's a thought... i'm not sure if your mum lives near any technophiles, but the majority of stuff like remote garage doors, DIY home automation (pc controlled lights etc), DIY radio transmitters and remote doorbells all operate in the same sort of frequency band about 433MHz...
I'm not sure what frequency our alarm/locking remotes work on, but I know that various models of Range Rover work on that frequency. (probably best not to ask how i know that! s:wink: :wink: s:wink: )

Don't worry James I know a few tricks of the trade now, spark plugs are useful for getting into cars with!! Still my mystery is not solved though.
At last someone with the same problem as me - Just tonight I drove into the garage and the alarm fob will do nothing - Its happened before and does so intermittently - usually when I'm late for the airport or a meeting - Typical!! s:twisted: :twisted: s:twisted:
My solution is to get into the car and drive it down the road - alarm blaring - It so looks like I've just stolen my own car!! s:lol: :lol: s:lol: s:lol: :lol: s:lol:
I had to pull out of my side street into a ton of traffic and drive off with the alarm blaring a few weeks back - It looked so dodgy!!!
I've looked around and cant see anything transmitting that might be intermittently in use and so causing the trouble - but its a royal pain in the ass!

It's almost certainly the high concentration of cars equiped with microwave interior & exterior sensors. Other causes discussed were localised RF emissions in particular locations.
The discussion was fairly extensive 2 years ago with a good few theories being put forward most of which had considerable merit.

Was that the most unsubtle way yet of saying use the search s:roll: :roll: s:roll: which incidentally I did use and couldn't find anything. The sarcasm is literally oozing out of the screen. More helpful would of been a link, but hey, we can't have everything can we.

Used to get a lot of car alarms playing up in Linton where I used to live, which we (and, indeed, an alarm specialist) put down to the enormous great microwave link tower on the RAF base (the encrypted over-air Forces comms system)..
Oddly enough, mine was fine at JAE until the very last day - I put that down to the interior having had a really good soaking in the rain s:lol: :lol: s:lol:

Same here. I had problems with mine on Sunday. In the middle of a big field it should rule out most RF gadgetry except key fobs. I was the only one trying to use my key at the time, so something must have been blocking the signal.
