Is there a way that the passenger airbag can be disabled temporarily, to allow for a kiddies booster seat to be put on the passenger seat?? If so how would I do it and is it easy to do?

no conclusive answer only speculation, only guaranteed way would be to cut the wires and resplice them together at a later point
The easiest (and guaranteed) way to disable it is to disconnect the passenger side bag from the airbag control box which is near the radio. Take out the glovebox and you will be able to see it. Pull the connector, job done.

From the left to right (on a RHD car),
1. Small connector (2 wires)
2. Large connector many wires
3. Small connector (same as 1)
4. Medium connector few wires (some distance to the right of 3)
Then I notice that wires from 1 and 3 go into a common loom...
Ermmm which connector represents what?
Connector 1 to fire left side airbag?
Connector 1 to detect person in left seat?
Connector 2 for ... ???

Based on the repair manual it looks as though connectors 1 & 3 go to seat belt pre-tensioners, and 2 covers the air bags.
A wiring diagram (I think I have one at home, but anybody else?) will show which is the passenger air bag. BTW US cars have a switch for the passenger bag, so in theory at least, you can put one in line and it will give you the option you require.
airbags come off block B lines according to the wiring diagrams, problem is the manual some of us have is american which affects things like the obvious driver/passenger positions, the second problem on top of that is that some electrical items are not swapped around, so with that in mind the manual i have shows the pax connections on positions 10 and 11 and the drivers on 13 and 14

So block B I presume refers to the number 2 connector I've labelled in the pic?
And positions 10, 11, 13 and 14... how do I count these? Are they all going to be disconnected if I unplug the entire number "2" plug?

First of all, a warning (from the shop manual):

Now - if you unplug the entire plug 2 you'll lose
all airbags.
Secondly - the disable switch fitted to US models isn't quite as simple as a switch in the wires (see below) - when switched 'off' it's actually actively pulling the firing line low (to ground) and disconnecting the negative trigger.

I can't find the page with the connector pinouts on, but the above diagram shows the wire colours - the wires at the airbag sensor end should be the same colour as a Euro car, as far as I know.
It also looks rather like you might be able to retro fit the US disable switch - the diagrams make it look like all of the logic is contained in the switch, with the switch effectively fitted inline in the passenger airbag lead.
Whoa! This is really detailed info! So I guess that if I do not get the US switch, I will be better of pulling the plug off the passenger airbag end rather than the joint connector (number 2) at the airbag ECU end?
