Title: iridium plugs = more dificult start???
Post by: MadMigMR2 on August 17, 2003, 23:59
i have installed the celica GTS iridium plugs

The car is running ok, but when i start the car, it takes some more time to start running.

With stock plugs, the car allways started just after i press the key.
Now it the new plugs, it takes maybee 1 second or 2 seconds to start running.
I don't like this, and maybee i will change to stock plugs again.

Anyone with this problem?

Sounds like either the gap is wrong or the plugs are drawing more current and overloading the coils.

If it's the gap - set it properly before installing (you did check didn't you  s;) ;) s;) )

If this doesn't help, reinstall the stock plugs - Toyota will almost certainly have matched the coils and plugs together.

Oh and please don't be tempted to install the Celica coils like was discussed on this forum some time ago as you will probably shorten the life of your engine ECU - again the ECU will have been matched to the coils.

I thought the iridiums come pregapped and should NOT be changed...
