Title: Cabin fan heater
Post by: spit on July 30, 2005, 09:46
Is there an accessible filter in the '2's in-cabin ventilation system? I'm sure mine isn't blowing as strong as it used to and the problem has been progressive rather than sudden.

Intake, motor and aircon seem OK. Recirc is stronger (as it always has been) but seems to be dropping in parallel with the "direct" setting.

Advice appreciated, thanx

Pop over to  w www.newcelica.org (http://www.newcelica.org) w  - I spotted an article a while back on adding a pollen filter to the stock system, I'm guessing their setup will be similar to ours so it may give you some pointers.

Yep, theirs is behind the glovebox. I'll have a poke around. Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

I'm guessing we don't have a filter...at least all the tree seeds and other crap comes straight through...

OK, just to wind this thread up.......seems there is no filter (pollen or otherwise) in our vent system. Guess the problem must be elsewhere.

I had this problem with a Mondeo, and it was a loose clip on one of the hoses. Not all the air was going down the hose.

No idea where the connections are on the '2, but guess a head under the steering wheel might be a good start. I found where because I feltl air coming from an area it shouldn't i.e. located the footwell vents, put it on face blower only, then found that air was being expelled in the footwell from somewhere other than the vents.

Might help if you haven't tried already.

Title: HELP !

Experienced similar problem this morning on the way to work in that the power of the airflow coming out of the vents has suddenly declined – even at full whack!  The fan itself sounds like it's blowing at normal speed, it's just not getting out the vents - any idea what could be wrong.  Blockage / Disconnected pipe somewhere - if so where do I check?  Warranty runs out in a few days time so if problem want Mr T to fix it quick   s:) :) s:)

switching from in your face to screen to feet does the airflow change ?

If I remember the windscreen seemed to be fairly strong when turned to that setting, it was just the side and middle vents were very weak, even when turned to only output to them - but would need to check that again to be sure - as was concentrating on keeping on the road in the fog this morning as well as moving hands all over the dash to check each vent.
