Title: Photo Gallery on the V6 MR2
Post by: Anonymous on August 15, 2005, 23:58
Is this car for real or just for show to say it can be done and no we ain't gonna sell it you. If it really is. It's really depressing me.

Anyone really asked about it before?

If you ain't seen it, It's on

A guy on spyderchat, username Blitzo (also from Florida) has transplanted a Camry V6 into his Spyder and autocrossed it.  It's a beast, I hear (havn't seen it yet).  Search on Spyderchat.  He posted a video of the car starting up right after installation -- quite some time ago.

I have absolutely no idea but at a guess, could be some sort of adjustable suspension (maybe   s:? :? s:?  )

I totally agree boxters are good and i do like them dont get me wrong but too many people do think people only have the boxter because cant afford a 911 and well if its faster than a 911, thats good value if you ask me!!   s:) :) s:)

I was under the impression Toyota is likely to bring out a £30k v6 sportscar.

If Nissan can do it I don't see why Toyota shouldn't...

Edit: Re Boxsters, I always thought Porsche as the first step to supercardom.  If I had to choose between a Toyota and a Porsche, at the same money, I would pick the Porsche and not just because of the name.

but what i was saying if its >911 performance for <boxter money then id rather have the v6 MR2 than the boxter, personally.

I reckon you (and I) would be in the minority though.. most people (outside of the relatively small proportion of 'net car geeks  s;) ;) s;) ) go for badge over everything.

Just look at all the people who buy Mercedes and BMW  s;) ;) s;)

I can imagine the Top Gear review now..

Clarkson: "Well, it's hugely fast and great fun to drive. But it's no Porsche. The Porsche has far better build quality, and lets face it, you won't be laughed at for driving one".. etcetc..

The porker would get my vote (IF I had the 30k to throw at cars).
Why?
Because overall, including the depreciation, it would probbaly cost very little to run over 2-3 years.

However, you could probably pick up a 2nd hand 3-yr-old V6 MR2 (if such a beast existed) for, I would guess, £12-15k.  Now that would probably be worth looking at  s;-) ;-) s;-)

Well i heard Porshes were suffering from bad depreciation.

They have flooded the market with boxters and now its hard to sell one.

The real reason Toyota didn't put a V6 in an MR2: Lexus

Hey, I got a merz too!   s:( :( s:(  But yes you are right, it's to do with the badge, but it's a really comfy car. Spyder is abit of a change for me for weekends. I vote german cars the NO 1 in comfort.
