Title: Only one pre cat
Post by: Wrightly on September 6, 2005, 11:05
Hi all
I recently went to remove the precats - managing to shear off three of the four bolts holding the heatshield! - and on inspection have found out that only the LHS is in place!
I have been having some engine issues - rough idling, tapping noises and low power for a while - and could only having one be causing this?
As for the state of all the nuts and bolts on the manifold, Toyota could have used better quality parts to stop them rusting solid. It's been a bloody nightmare trying to remove them!

check your main cat QUICK, this is the only place it could have gone and the engine work, but at least you'll know wether it was removed by a person before

let us know how you get on

I don't think it's that. But the remainings of the other cat  s:? :? s:?  Most of it is probably in the main cat, you might wanna remove it and shake the debris off. Some smaller particles might have made it into your engine, so keep your eye on your oil level  s:? :? s:?

Sorry to hear of the problems. Do you have any form of warranty? If so, get in quickly and claim a faulty pre-cat is causing your problems.

If not, whilst you do have access to it, take out the other pre-cat.
