Title: OBD-2 port problems. Help!
Post by: spynish on September 20, 2005, 20:54
Hi,

It's the 2nd OBD2 reader I try on my car and it doesn't read a thing   s:( :( s:(  , it even seems it doesn't work.

Seems that the only pins that are connected are: 2,3,4,5,6,9,11,12. Is this possible???

May be is a j-pec port??

  s:!: :!: s:!:    s:?: :?: s:?:

Thanks!

Not sure about the pinout, but you did turn the ignition on, right?

I wouldn't have thought so, that would be a lot of trouble to go to just to make something worse...

Maybe a bent pin somewhere? Loose wire?

Not bent pins and loose wire... Well have to check that but shouldn't since that port it's fixed there... (though I think it can be easily removed)

I may be a way off the mark here, but I did have a problem with the OBD port on my RS6, before realising that the fuse which supplies the 12V pin had blown (strangely, I discovered this just a couple of days after the dealer had been making some electrical repairs under warranty).

I suggest that you look to see whether there is a fuse identified as 'diagnostics', or something similar, and check that.

If its any help, in the fuse box in the driver's compartment (LHS of dash area), the second one down in the middle bank is shown in the book as OBD 7.5A

I'm no electrical person so I don't really know what it means, but in US Spyder diags for 2003+in the WD for the DataLink Connector, only 4,5,6,7,13,14,16 are connected. Power is 16, Earth is 4.

FWIW, when I plug in my Gendan / Scantool code reader into a 2000 or 03 car it will power up even if the ingition is off.

Obviously it can't interrogate the ECU in that mode though.

Sounds like a wiring problem to me ...?
