Using an OBD II reader and scantool this is what I see for the O2 sensors:
O2 Sensor 1, Bank 1: 0.070 V @ -1.56% s.t. fuel trim
O2 Sensor 2, Bank 1: 0.740 V
O2 Sensor 1, Bank 2: 0.610 V @ -3.91% s.t. fuel trim
Is it normal for the second O2 sensor to only give 'half' a reading as shown above.
The reason I ask is this sensor has only just been replaced but the car is still not running great, feels a little underpowered and is pinking. So I'm trying to decide whether it's the O2 sensor or possibly the MAF or if I should look elswhere.
Any help would be appreciated.
That certainly doesn't look right to me...
You should be seeing fairly similar readings on the first 2 sensors, as they monitor the output from a pair of otherwise identical cylinders. The MAF is common to both pairs of cylinders, and seeing as bank 2 is running normally, it would seem to be in good health. You should be looking at items that are common to only bank 2, which would be the 2 injectors, the 2 spark plugs, and the o2 sensor itself...
My money would be on the O2 sensor, if you wnat to check, swap the o2 sensors in the manifold over. If your crap reading moves to bank 2, then you need a new sensor. If it stays on bank 1, you need to check the plugs, the injectors, and the loom for the O2 sensor. You can isolate the fault further by swapping pairs of plugs and coils over from bank 1 to bank 2.
What diagmostic codes are you getting?
Thanks for that, that was my thinking to swap the two sensors round and check the readings. Any idea where I can get an O2 socket from or any other methods of removing the O2 sensors.
I'm not reciveing any error codes it's just not running right.
