Title: CEL question
Post by: Anonymous on October 6, 2005, 18:37
I was just wondering, as i've been reading up about these o2 sensors and check lights and such.

What happens if you have your CEL lit, with some error, and then another error occurs, would it be ignored, write over the previous error code, store the code in an array of error codes etc.

For example, my CEL is on, with a non serious warning, now say the ABS faults, or something that requires the ECU to take action, will it take action?

you can have multiple stored error codes but only 1 CEL

There can be more than one error code......oops you beat me to it Markiii!

Its advisable to get the CEL cleared as soon as possible, given that you won't be alerted to new errors. I've done this on the O2 heater circuit just recently with the help of a 15Ω resistor. I wouldn't advocate "cheating" the ECU like this, but I only need the fix until next week  s:wink:  s:wink:
