Title: Alarm with Proximity Sensors? Clifford?
Post by: Anonymous on October 23, 2005, 11:11
Hello everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has fitted a Clifford alarm on their car - or equivalent with proximity senors (i.e. the alarms goes off if someone comes closer than 1 foot to your car)? If so, is it any good? I live in London and don't have the luxury of owning a garage...hence I really have to have a good alarm system fitted...any recommendations? Any ideas on costs?
THANKS! sophie

If I recall correctly, our resident ice & security guru (Buster - we miss you dammit) didn't think much of Clifford.

I don't have experience with the aforementioned company but I had a Cobra (http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Cobra+Alarms&meta=) on my previous Audi.  The particular alarm, albeit an old model, was a quality item - it never gave false alarms, the siren was as loud as one would expect and it's sensitivity was manually adjustable via a rotary control on the dash.  Not the cheapest but not hugely expensive either.

Personally, if I lived in central London I would feel more comfortable with a good alarm plus a tracker.
