Title: TRD Camshafts???
Post by: Anonymous on October 28, 2005, 20:18
I was talking to someone today from Mazdas technical department who says he has a mate with an MRS that's fitted with TRD cams and Unichip. He said it goes like stink! Anyone heard of replacement TRD cams for the Roadster?

I don't think TRD has any internal stuff for the 1ZZ-FE:

Just needs someone to work out what kind of lift & duration would work well on our engines, then take a set of standard cams down to Piper and see if they can be reground or whether they'd have to make up whole new castings..  s;) ;) s;)  (And no, I'm not volunteering  s:lol:  s:lol:  )

Can't you get the Mazda blokes mate to join up on here and he can tell us what he has done...give him a flyer to pass on!!

Im not sure about this.. but I recall reading sumthing about TRD chamshafts on spyderchat. And I even remember that there were two models. A normal performance one, and there was one for track without low revs lobes..
Ah.. .. high rev / low rev profiles.. that's 2zz! sorry, my mistake

The Caserta and possibly VM180 might have had TRD camshafts.  They were both supposed to have 180psi but I don't they ever reached anywhere near that high.

The VM180 had 155 with an Exhaust tune and an air cleaner...
