Title: lighter battery
Post by: Anonymous on November 19, 2005, 12:52
Has anyone changed their battery to a lighter one? I've read about people changing them out with a optima brand battery. Any comments?

Optima makes good batteries, but they aren't light. 12V starter batteries are +30lbs:

I replaced my stock (Panasonic) battery with an Optima yellow top recently, and in lifting them, I'd guess the Optima to be just a few pounds lighter if that, certainly not enough to make much difference. My car becomes a bit of a garage queen in bad weather, and the Optima yellow top is designed for for that type of cycling. It has eliminated dead battery problems for me.

Winter can mean downtime - so Optima Red for me now that I dont care about wieght so much  s:D :D s:D  .
Stock panasonic went flat after a month and the Odyyessy PC545 died after 7 days with all stock audio and electronics.

I drive my car literally every single day, so the Hawker Genesis G13EP has not been a problem for me.  I bought a spare just in case, plus I have a trickle charger.
