Title: Gearbox bearings part no?
Post by: spyderman on November 23, 2005, 08:04
Hi there, im looking into reconditioning my gearbox.

The problem is, Toyota in my country does not have in stock any of these bearings, so they told me i need to place an order, a procedure that will take an easy 3-4 weeks. It is too long to stay without a car i guess, just waiting for a few bearings to arrive.

Anyways, long story short, a bearing manufacturer SKF, more than likely has the bearings that im looking for in stock, and in 1/4th of the price Toyota is asking for, but all i need is to give them the part numbers, so they can check the availability of the specific bearings.

Does anyone happens to know the parts number of the these bearings, or anywhere i can get them?

Thanks..

Tem,

i will remove the gearbox on Sat morning.

I will see, if it is a bearing problem, i will try and find out all the aftermarket SKF bearings to replace them.

If it is a gear problem on my car, LA gear probably, than i will go for a second hand one, and i will not bother in reconditioning mine.

Anyways, lets see   s:roll:  s:roll:

Adam,

i wish i could get your gearbox. The thing is, as you know, i do live in Cyprus, and shipping charges would be too high, i guess.

Plus, im left without a car, and that means if i do get your gearbox, i will have to wait acouple of weeks at least.

Anyways, you can PM me a price if you want, including shipping, and i will take into considerayion your offer    s:wink:  s:wink:

I never got any of the part numbers for the bearings sorry, I still have no idea what bearings exactly they were changing.

Did you ever come to a resolution?

unfortunately my car is still on the jack with no gearbox. im driving my brothers Honda Civic at the time being.

no bearings found in our market, not even in SKF.

that means i will have to go for the second hand gearbox i found here, with a cost of 250 GBP. Of cousre it's a risk, a second hand part will always be a risky one, you don't know what's inside, and how long it's gonna last   s:roll:  s:roll:

If its the one which adam here is selling, I think you could probably buy it with a degree of confidence.

Iam always late in checking replies in my posts

Yes, this is the part i was looking for.. unfortunately i bought a second hand gearbox today since as i said, i couldnt find this part in our market

anyways, is this the most common part that is causing problems to gearboxes?

is this logical to get a took took sound just from a bearing, than a whinning noise?

when i disassembled my gearbox, it was obvious that this bearing was defective, but i could not spot any other problem than a normal wear on gears..
