Hi
Sorry if this question is answered somewhere else, I am new and dont know my way around. I have an MRS imported from Cyprus. I have to get it through its SVA but it keeps failing on the emissions. Have been told it might be the CAT. have spent loads on money on exhausting every other possibilty but still no joy. Have also been told that even if I replace CAT it still might not pass s:( :( s:( I need this to pass in order to register and sell it. Cant use it with my little baby!! Otherwise its in great condition. Any suggestions please.
If the engine is healthy with fresh oil and no CEL (check engine light) it can only be down to the exhaust system. Most likely it is the cat - how many miles has the car done? Another (and cheaper) thing to check is all of the joints in the system, as having a slight leak could cause a failure too.
You shouldn't need to check emmisions for the ESVA as there is a model report available.
Emissions will only be needed on an MOT test
I have a similar problem.
I cannot pass emissions, but...
I have PFC, PPE header and high flow cat...
Still waiting for my PFC to be reprogramed.
The car has 35000 miles. It was given an engine flush, oil change, additive in the tank. Took it to Toyota and they spent 4 hours looking over it and couldnt figure out what was wrong with it. Thankfully they didnt charge me anything! Apparently I can only get a new CAT from Toyota and they have quoted me 700 pounds plus fitting.
Why is the VOSA test centre testing it then if it doesnt need to be?
Any ideas where I will get a cheaper CAT?
