Title: Storage doors
Post by: markiii on January 9, 2006, 22:50
Guys

My doors have started to stick, it seems that rather than releasing the catch when I pull the handle, the latch istself would rather bend.

Anybody had this problem, anybody suggest a solution.

I've been playing with them all afternoon and got nowhere.

ta,

Mark.

Working hard again, eh Mark?  s;) ;) s;)

I've not had that problem myself - I'm struggling to see how they could even get stuck (granted I'm not looking at them right now).

Hmm.. you didn't lock them, did you?  s;) ;) s;)

Other than that.. I thought they were a pretty simple lever & pin type affair  s:? :? s:?

day off

and yep they are lever and pin, whihc is why I can't understand it either.

I'm sssuming that the latch isn't sitting correctly now, since it bent but getting it back in a position where it oth catches and release is easier said than done.

must try and tale a look at someone elses on Saturday.

had something similar whilst trying to sort the speakers out, for me it was because the U shaped bar had been bent towards the rear of the car too much

Yep, the usual fix is to pull the 'U' shaped latch towards you when they stick, and push it away from you when they won't catch properly.

It could also be because the door is slightly lower than the catch.  This could be from someone leaning on it but it's not always noticeable to the eye.

Huh?

(he means the storage bin doors behind the seats, not the car doors)
