Post by: dlivingstone_19 on January 14, 2006, 15:48
Has anyone got any pictures of when they fitted 6 x 9s in the rear luggage compartment? How easy is it to do this?

dead easy, just make yourself a template, wireing can be run down either side easily

Up to how many inches SUB can I fit there? 12" is ok?
Also, where is a good position to install 2 amps?

the one in the picture is a 10", but in retrospect i wouldn't fit it to door panels as they arn't solid enough to cope with the bass, a bass box is basically required. as for the subs, there is space either underneath the L/H cubby door floor if you have a manual transmission otherewise its either the wall behind the passenger seat or in the storage under the bonnet

I dont understand where exactly you mean to position the sub.

I reckon you would. Not going to be perfect as seats are in the way, but they will add to the sound from the front and make the whole thing a bit more rounded IMHO.

They sound great mounted in the doors. Mine aren't amplified, either.

I'll be doing the same this week. Think I will go for the same sort of angle that Stu has used with his, as the higher frequencies probably have some chance of making it past the seats that way.

Let me know how you get on buddy and how difficult it is to run the wires.

running wires is no worries in the 2, but be prepared for a few skinned knuckles. If you're rewireing the door speakers then get an old coat hanger(the wire type) and cut out a straight length of it, say 1Ft and then bend over the last 1/2" completely back on itself to create a hook, this can then be used to pull a piece of string through the rubber door wire guide. That string can then be used to pull a wire through.

Useful tip Stu.
Daz, hopefully not too much bother as all the interior is out at the moment.
