Title: high pitch noise
Post by: Anonymous on January 17, 2006, 08:02
Hi

when i start my car up from cold i seem to get what i can only describe as a high pitch weering sound. you cant hear it from inside the car and it also goes away once the car has heated up.

Anyway i booked my car in for a service and have asked toyota to take a look at it for me. When i described it, the service guy said it could be possible v-belt problem.

anybody else had this problem or heard of it?

Alan

Sounds a bit like the power steering pump to me.

Try this test at a standstill: does the sound go away (temporarily) if you turn the wheel slightly?

its definately not the power steering as i know what that sounds like and you can only hear the noise outside the car.

i will wait and see what Mr T has to say and take it from there.
