Title: Drivers Window Catching
Post by: heathstimpson on February 5, 2006, 09:28
My front window seems to have a problem both with sealing properly along with catching the little black latch that sits high up on the outside of the A pillar. My first question is does anyone know the reason for this black latch item  s:?: :?: s:?:  If I open the window and then close it again it then seals and the noise of air getting into the cabin deminishes. On looking at the window on the outside it looks to be too high at the front causing the fouling and misalignment with the seal. Once the door is closed opening and shutting the window allows it to align correctly. The window also seems to rattle  s:? :? s:?

The little black deely is supposed to be on the outside of the window - depending who you talk to it's either there to reduce wind noise (hood up, window open) or to 'catch' the window when you're raising it at speed (stops it getting sucked outward).

I've had a few cars with them - never really figured out if they did either of those two things  s:lol:  s:lol:

Mine did end up getting bent on the '2, though, and sitting inside the window forcing it out - it must have got knocked, then got caught when I shut the door with the window up. I just bent it back out as far as it would go, and it's never got bent back in since..

Other than that, pass, sorry  s:) :) s:)  My virus-addled brain isn't working so well today  s:? :? s:?  (Why must people insist on coming to work to spread their germs around!)

I have a similar problem, but only with the hard top. When i'm driving I have to lower then raise the window to stop the air noise. Somethings not sealing correctly when i close the door????

My window fouls on it even with it bent as far as it can possibly go (matching onside) and it still catches  s:? :? s:?
