Title: Smell and stain removing products for interiors
Post by: Anonymous on February 13, 2006, 21:40
Hi all,

I bought my MR2 second hand, but unfortunately the previous owner was a smoker, and so my interior smells slightly of cigarettes.

Is there a way of removing the seat material so it can be washed, or are there any upholstry cleaning products that people have had success with for this type of problem?

Also i have a few (what looks to be) water marks on the seat. Are there any good products for getting rid of this? Dont know if its where a drink has possibly been spilled, but its something along those lines.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Matt

I don't think those are water marks...  s:wink:  s:wink:

I'm guessing that something like Vanish carpet shampoo stain remover should work quite well. At least, it does on my carpets when the cats have been sick, and there's no remaining smell or stains.

autoglym probably do something, if not 3M do a really good foaming upholstery cleaner, comes in an orange and white tin

Yeah, you can remove the cloth cover. I'd try cleaning them on the car first though.

How about removing sun cream from black leather?

My seats are slightly grey now rather than black.

I've tried autoglyn products but I can't get it back to the original black?

Any ideas?

Jason

Sorry mate, you may be stuffed on this one, if the leathers turned grey then its because the sun creams bleached it, you may be able to get it re-stained but the suntan lotion may create an area where the stain wouldn't take, my advice would be to go to an auto trimmers and ask them

You can get kits to revitalise and restore leather. There maybe something in that area for return to black?

Sounds stupid, but my boss has got an Evo 8 FQ330 - after borrowing it off him when he was in America for a week or so - he complained about it smelling like a 'dirty ashtray'

A quick spray with about a quarter of a bottle of frebreeze, and that got rid of the tobacco smell   s:lol:  s:lol:
