So I took my '2 in this morning to a garage in Camberley to have Che's manifold fitted and my old manifold, complete with pre cats, removed.

He told me to ring at 12 to see how it's going.. which I did, only to be told that there are no ramps free and the car is still sitting in the car park. "Will it be done today?" I aksed, "Hopefully, with a bit of luck," the mechanic replied, with the most minute amount of certainty.

The place is in sodding Camberley, which is a good 45 minutes from me and I've had to come into work late. I also booked it in three weeks ago, so it's not as if it's a surprise visit.

God I hate garages.

What gets me is that he reckons the reason the other cars are still on the ramps is because they dont have the parts they need in stock to finish them. Why can't they move the other cars off the ramps and do mine in the time being? Does this mean they are all just sitting on their arses all day whilst they wait for the other parts to arrive?

They are probably all dossing about on websites when they should be working    s:wink:  s:wink:

Hope it gets done soon.  And let us know about your precats.

Aannnndd......relax!  s:wink:  s:wink:

Know what you mean - time management in a garage can be tricky, but if anyone should know how to schedule stuff in its the garage itself. And if their ramps are full of cars without parts they need to look at that side of their business too  s:shock:  s:shock:

Tell me why they need full-blown lifts to do this job anyway? Sure, there's a bit of crawling under involved without ramps but a small set of drive-ons is easily enough.

Therapy head on.....I suppose you can always provide objective feedback in the buyers/sellers forum here to warn other Camberleyans what to expect.

I suggested that there were only three bolts I knew of underneath the car which needed removing and he said I was wrong and it HAD to be on ramps.

If it's not ready today, I'm going to pick it up and take it somewhere else... they've had three sodding weeks to sort this out!

Grrr!

Chris, try Abbey Citroen in Redhill next time they top notch, i've never had any worries with them, they were formerly Abbey Toyota and can still stamp your service details in that name

There's three on the joint and two (of different sizes!) bracing the 'fold to the engine block, but that's it.

The only reason I can think of would be Health & Safety/Insurance, nothing to do with the job itself.

The best plan.

Good luck with it matey.

I take it back, they were superb (see my post in the maintenance section about them)

Inspecting the precats after removal, they are absolutely spotless.. no wear, cracks, crumbling.. nothing. Still, feel so much better knowing they are out now, plus Che's shiny new manifold is lovely, and sounds great!
