Quote from: "philster_d"And Stu I told you I thought there was a problem in the brakes before I left if you remember. I wish I had had more time to get it sorted. Easy to say in retrospect.

Phil the issue there was a knocking from the front right, as i said at the time i thought it was an ABS issue but that is entirely different an issue to this, at the time the car was brakeing hard and in a straight line. Of course it is entirely possible that the fault has degraded, but i severely doubt it. The fault in my opinion was a momentary fireing of the abs to that wheel and nothing else and i cant see how the fault would extend to all 4 wheels. Very sorry mate but i doubt that if you take it to Mr.T they'll find much wrong. Of course i do have a humble pie ready just in case

Well the problem i felt tho was an elecrical abs related issue involving grinding and apparent jamming, seems similar to me to straight line electrical noise and jamming under hard braking ?

Maybe jaust easier to see when turning is added.

that grinding/jamming feeling is normal Phil when the ABS fires, come and drive mine and you'll see, they'll all do it if the ABS fires. Yes i agree it feels abnormal but thats just the brakes being oscilated at such high speed. Whenever you brake you should always figure in the extra distance required if the ABS should kick in, dont and you could hit something. Under heavy braking and going over bumpy ground i'm willing to bet most 2's will have there ABS activated

markiii's setup is much better than stock Phil. Not sure what he's got but he commented that going back to my stockers was a bit of a scare at DT  s:lol:  s:lol:

I had a thought, about whether the turbo installation would affect braking efficiency. First, I could be talking out of my hat, but if a car has a servo, I thought they used the manifold vacuum to power the servo on the brakes. If the car has forced induction then the vacuum will be changed or non existent. I know there are many ways round this, and I'm not even sure if the 2 has a servo, but if it did, would this be correct?
Apologies if this is a lot of outdated tosh.

Only while you're on boost.  If you brake whilst on full throttle, this could be a problem!

When the engine is off boost, particularly on the overrun, the manifold depression (vacuum) will be as good as on a non-turbo car.

Most cars have a reasonable vacuum reservoir, but on the two, I find that I can only get one application of the brakes before the vacuum dies.
